Trucks are everywhere! In every sector! The truck license required for driving a truck has changed a lot in terms of class name and the method of obtaining the license with the new traffic regulation issued on 01.01.2016. First of all, let’s answer these questions: what is a truck, how is it defined, what are the types of trucks?

What is a truck?

A motor vehicle manufactured for carrying loads and with a maximum permissible loaded weight of more than 3.5 tons.

Truck Types

C1 Class Truck:

Class C1 trucks are trucks and tractors with a maximum loaded weight between 3,500 kg and 7,500 kg. A class C1 driver’s license is required to use these types of trucks.

C1E Class Truck:

Combined vehicles consisting of a trailer or semi-trailer with a maximum laden weight exceeding 750 kilograms and a combination weight not exceeding 12,000 kilograms, attached to vehicles used with a class C1 driving licence, and combined vehicles consisting of a trailer or semi-trailer with a maximum laden weight exceeding 3,500 kilograms and a combination weight not exceeding 12,000 kilograms, attached to vehicles used with a class B driving licence, are included in class C1E. They can be driven with a class C1E driving licence.

Class C Truck:

All vehicles defined as trucks fall into the C class Truck category. For vehicles under 7500 kg, a C1 class license is sufficient, while for trucks over 7500 kg, a C class Truck license is required.

CE Class Truck: (TIR)

Combined vehicles consisting of a trailer or semi-trailer with a maximum loaded weight exceeding 750 kilograms and attached to vehicles used with a Class C driver’s license are called CE Class Trucks (TIRs). It is mandatory to have a CE Class driver’s license to drive a truck.

How to get a Truck License?

The process of getting a truck license works as follows. The driver candidate who wants to get a truck license first gets a Class B license. If you have a Class B license, you can make a difference to a Class C license by taking a driving test. If you wish, you can also have a Truck License by making a difference from C to CE.

What are the documents required for a Truck Driver’s License?

What are the prerequisites for obtaining a Truck Driver’s License?

For a class C1 truck license (truck between 3500kg-7500kg), you must be at least 18 years old and have a class B license.

For a Class C truck license, you must be 21 years of age or older and have a Class B license.

Who cannot get a Truck Driver’s License?

Those who are under 21 years of age, those who have been convicted of crimes such as drug smuggling, those who do not have a sufficient graduation certificate, and those who cannot document their health with a medical report cannot obtain a truck driver’s license.
